Abstract
Filariasis is a common nematode infection in tropical areas, presenting with symptoms like fever, headache, lymphadenitis, epididymo-orchitis, lymphoedema, and hydrocele. Rarely, it causes f ilarial granulomas, which appear as subcutaneous nodules or breast lumps. These granulomas result from complex immune interactions with dead or alive parasites. Conventional diagnostic tests may fail, requiring FNAC or histopathological examination for accurate diagnosis. Failure of conventional tools also suggests to the possibility that these nodules could be a local reaction to f ilarial remnants rather than active infection. In endemic regions filariasis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of subcutaneous nodules. Histopathological examination is the gold standard, and treatment involves anti parasitic medications and surgical excision.
