Abstract

This is a case series of hypogastric hernia. It is common in females. Obesity and multiparity are possible predisposing factors. It occurs consistently at the level of the arcuate line through the linea alba. The differential pull of the anterior and posterior fibres of the internal oblique and transversus abdominis muscles located anterior and posterior to the rectus abdominis muscle is probably the cause of this kind of hernias.
